All Schools’ Basketball

Another great round of basketball was played on Friday evening. We had a few tough losses, but congratulations to our Senior C Girls team who won their second game of the season – great work girls; as well as the Senior B Boys who were missing some key players but still managed a hard-fought win against MFAC; and our Senior B Girls also had a solid win to keep them in second place on the ladder.

The game of the week would have to have been the Senior D Girls who lost in a nail-biter. They all fought hard throughout the whole game and never gave up, despite being down 10 points early on. Their solid defence kept them in the game and they managed to almost beat a strong St John’s team, narrowly going down by three points in the dying seconds of the game. The girls were fantastic, and it was a great team effort. If you get a chance to watch these girls play – it is certainly worth it!

The Senior E boys, unfortunately, had a loss against the top of the ladder GSLC, but the boys were in control for half of the game and showed glimpses of brilliance. They remain in contention for the finals.

All School’s Water Polo

On Monday afternoon, our Intermediate Girls Water Polo team had their first fixture of the season at Sunshine Coast Grammar. Many of the girls have not had a lot of experience with this sport, but their enthusiasm and energy helped them compete against a well-versed Grammar side. While PLC went down 7-2, the team gained valuable experience to take into their next game. The commitment shown by the players to continue backing up in defence, even when fatigued was awesome to see. Special mention goes to Amber Hetherington for her outstanding goalkeeping efforts. A big thank you to Coach Sam for working with the team this season.

SCISSA Touch Football Results

It was a mixed round of results for our PLC Touch Football teams this week. The Junior Boys team competed well against Grammar, showing glimpses of brilliance at the start of each half but were unable to continue their momentum to take out the game. The Intermediate Boys were given a lesson on the level of skill, intensity and teamwork needed to succeed in the A Division, and while a loss of this nature is never fun, it is a valuable learning experience. The Junior Girls team started slowly in their game against Glasshouse but put on a great display of skill in the second half to win 7-3.  The game of the round must go to the Senior Girls who put in a strong winning performance against Immanuel. They were not only dangerous in attack (scoring 7 tries), but they also managed to keep their opposition scoreless, which is no mean feat. We look forward to seeing our teams continue to build into the next round!

SSCRU Girls Rugby Results

Our U14 Girls teams continued to show tremendous improvement in their confidence and playing ability in their games on Wednesday afternoon.

Results:

PLC 10 – St Pat’s 10

PLC 5 – St Johns 15
