Competitive Sport News

SCISSA Senior Soccer:

There were some great games played out by our PLC teams this round in Senior SCISSA Soccer. The Senior Girls Team 1 played out a close first half but unfortunately the game got away towards the end of the second. Our Senior Boys travelled to Nambour undermanned and fought a tight 2-1 win. Congratulations to our Senior Girls Team 2 for their first win of the season, winning 4-2 against Sunshine Coast Grammar.

Junior and Intermediate Volleyball:

It was a tough round for our PLC Volleyball teams this week as many teams played some quality opposition. Congratulations to our Intermediate Girls Team 2 for a strong away win against Sunshine Coast Grammar. Our Junior Boys played their heart out with one player down against a well-versed St Andrew’s side. They took the game to a tie break set where they were unlucky not to walk away with a win. Our Intermediate Boys and Girls top teams had the tough task of facing off against Glasshouse Christian College and it was great to see our teams lifting to the challenge. It is fantastic to see all our students continually develop their skills across the season.

Trish Buckley Volleyball

For the last few Fridays, PLC has had several super keen students playing in the Junior Trish Buckley Volleyball Competition at Caloundra Indoor Centre. Our students have been working hard in training to develop their skills and knowledge of the game and have shown some excellent development in their game play across the competition. Their commitment has been impressive as we regularly have full teams showing up to compete and run their duties, sometimes being at the venue from 4pm until 10pm at night. There is clearly plenty of enthusiasm in our younger students for taking volleyball to the next level and we hope they continue their strong efforts next year. A big thank you to our coaches, Sarah Ashdown, Ella Hardstaff, Elizabeth Maclean and Beyonce Mathew for their work with our students across the competition. We also thank Mr Paul Cusick for giving his time to assist in supervising and assisting at the venue.
