This new resource introduces evidence-informed study strategies, including spaced retrieval, dual coding and interleaving. These approaches are designed to improve how information is encoded, stored and retrieved. They are based on findings from brain research and what we know about cognition. The strategies in this book require effort and active thinking and complement those in the Metacognition Toolkit. This kind of challenge, known as desirable difficulty, helps to build strong, connected memories that can be accessed when needed.
