Sport

Pacific Lutheran College provides excellent sporting opportunities for students. Offering a wide range of sports, Pacific aims to develop fitness, a sense of personal wellbeing, physical prowess and confidence as well as instill a sense of enjoyment, commitment, sportsmanship, courage and resilience in their young sportsmen and women.

Students from all year levels (Prep – Year 12) participate in the College’s annual Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country carnivals. Competing for one of the College’s four houses – Bula, Buran, Mumba or Wira, students are given the opportunity to earn points towards the annual Foundation Cup while enjoying the friendly competition amongst their peers. Participation in District, Regional and National carnivals offers a higher level of competition for elite performers.

Prep – Year 3 students have the opportunity to participate in a number of sport development programs outside of school hours. These programs encourage participation and give students experience in a variety of different sports where they can learn basic skills and rules.

Students in Years 4-12 participate in summer and winter team sports through Pacific’s membership with the Sunshine Coast Independent School Sports Association (SCISSA). Year 7-12 students also have the opportunity to participate in a number of school and community-based competitions through the week. Involvement in SCISSA sport for Year 4-6 students, which occurs within school hours, is compulsory.

Pacific students will have access to various school run sport clubs, including Running Club, Kayaking and Boardriders (Surfing). Students of all ages also benefit from participation in the parent led PLC Soccer and Netball Clubs, which compete on Saturdays in community competitions. PLC Basketball Academy

Pacific Lutheran College provides excellent sporting opportunities for students, offering a wide range of sports.

One of our top pillar sports is Basketball. The Pacific Lutheran College Basketball Performance Program is aligned with the Basketball Australia National Player Development Curriculum and is led by Head Coach Brad Burdon who brings over 20 years of elite level coaching experience through which he has won numerous State and National Championships.

Our athletes are trained with the appropriate basketball concepts and style of play prescribed by the Basketball Australia COE and all State bodies etc., which maximises athlete’s prospects for further elite level talent identification and selections. Our Basketball athletes do not only focus upon fundamental skill and gameplay development, they also learn to optimise the physical and mental elements of athletic preparation.
