On Wednesday 18th October, Week 3, Middle College students competed in the Interhouse Chess Competition finals, engaging in quick, 7-minute rounds that put their chess skills to the test in order to earn house points.

The student runner-up was Saxon Locke (Bula) in Year 8, and the overall student winner was Jayden Enderby (Mumba) in Year 8, who went on to compete in an exciting final round against Dr Dolling, with Dr Dolling emerging victorious!

College staff also engaged in a teacher’s round, with the runner-up being Mr Cummins (Wira) and the overall winner being Mr Griffin from the library.

This year’s competition was lots of fun for everyone involved, and the Academic PAG encourages Middle College students to join the competition next year and earn some points for their house! Congratulations to Mumba House for winning this event for 2023.
