It was good to witness the joy and sense of common purpose between a group of our Year 7 Pacific Plus students and members of the St Mark’s congregation at the assembly on Tuesday. The students presented the St Mark’s group with baskets containing the clothes and toys donated by our Prep to Year 5 families and bags of sanitary and personal items purchased using money raised through the cake stall they had conducted at St Mark’s after church earlier in the term. These items will be given to families who have been affected by Domestic Violence, are homeless or been adversely affected through other circumstances. The St Mark’s congregation supports Mission Impossible who support a range of those in need within our local community. We thank Pastor Ray Morris, his wife Janelle who leads the Baby Bundle group, Dawn Burrows who leads the connection with Mission Impossible, husband Stuart and Narelle Jeffers who is the Chair of the Congregation for their encouragement, prayers and support of our students and for attending our assembly on Tuesday. We thank our community for their generous support of this initiative and commend our Year 7 students for their service in making a difference for many.

A large group of parents, staff and students enjoyed watching the teamwork, skill, strength and spirit of our PLC Fireballs team as they won the Division 1 Grand Final of the Caloundra District Netball Association on Saturday. It was also a special moment as they celebrated their final game as a team with many of them having played together for a number of years under the leadership of coach Mrs Michelle Dufty.  We congratulate and thank the girls for their contribution to the growth of netball within the College. We also thank Mrs Michelle Dufty who as a coach and Head of Netball at the College has led significant growth in netball through both the Saturday and Monday Night School competitions. We also thank Mrs Donna Townsend, her executive and all coaches and managers who have supported a highly successful year of netball at Pacific. Thank you to our parents for your ongoing support and encouragement.

We congratulate our Junior B Boys, Junior A Boys and Senior B Boys Touch teams who have all won their grand finals this week as part of the SCISSA Touch competition. We thank Touch Coordinator Mr Josh Danzey and coaches Mr Scott Massie and Mr Cameron West-McInnes for their leadership of these teams.

We thank Mrs Karen Costa and Mr Cleveland Myerhoff for supporting the learning of our Year 2 and Year 4 students so well over this last term. We wish Ms Michelle McMillan, Mrs Mel Pietrala and Mr Andrew Block all the best for their long service leave next term. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Jodie Connors and Mr Joe Doran back from long service leave. We also look forward to welcoming Ms Alisha Bausch who comes to us from St Columban’s College, Caboolture as a Middle and Senior College teacher of Mathematics and Science, Ms Sarah Tolhurst from Peace Lutheran College in Cairns as a Middle and Senior College English and Humanities teacher and Ms Kana Chan as a continuing Japanese teacher.

Term 3 has been a busy and productive term full of opportunities for growth. We thank our staff, students and parents for their generous and capable engagement and support.

We pray that everyone has some time for rest and recuperation with the change of rhythm that occurs through the school holidays and that God would help us to travel lightly, trusting that God provides for our needs.
