College Captain Ben McCormac won the Public Speaking competition at the Lions Youth of the Year District Final at Redcliffe on Saturday night.

Ben progressed to this final after success at Club and Regional levels.

He joined five exceptional Regional winners, who came from far and wide, including Central Queensland, Darling Downs, Ipswich and North Brisbane.

Finalists were required to submit an application detailing their leadership experiences, undertake an interview and address general knowledge questions.  The culmination of the process saw them deliver two impromptu speeches of two minutes each and a five-minute prepared speech at a formal dinner at the Dolphins Leagues Club.

Ben excelled in both impromptu and prepared speeches and was announced the Public Speaking champion at the end of the evening.

The overall winner of the Youth of the Year District event was Sebastian Toms from Ipswich Grammar School.

We congratulate Ben for his commitment, passion and inspirational performances in representing our College in this prestigious program.

We would also like to acknowledge the support of the Caloundra Lions Club.
