Interhouse Cross Country

Congratulations to Bula House who just pipped Buran for first place in the Senior Interhouse Cross Country on the last Friday of Term 1. It was a fantastic afternoon enjoyed by students and staff alike and a great way to end the term. It was wonderful to see many of our students challenge themselves and do their best to run the majority of the course. There was plenty of support and encouragement from all the House teams on the day, and well done to Wira House for their efforts in being awarded the Spirit Trophy.

Athletes who finished in the top 6 have now qualified for the school team which will run at the Independent District Cross-Country at the Big Pineapple on Tuesday the 9th of May. Information will be sent home to students and parents soon.

Competitive Sport News

SCISSA Soccer and Volleyball

All SCISSA fixtures will begin on Wednesday next week. The draws will be finalized by the weekend and fixture information will be updated on the students’ PLC NAV Calendar. If students are unable to see their fixtures, please contact me (cwestmcinnes@pacluth.qld.edu.au).

Players will be given their playing shirts prior to their first game by their coaches. These will need to be worn to each game and returned at the end of the season.

It is critical that students advise their coaches or myself if they are not able to make a week. Commitment is one of our focus areas this year in sport. We do understand that things come up at times, so it is vital that absences are passed on as early as possible. Thank you to those students and parents who are already doing this.

Trish Buckley Volleyball

Our Year 8 Girls and Boys, and Year 9 Boys have their first round of games this Friday in the Trish Buckley Competition. It is fantastic to see so many younger students wanting to be involved in representative volleyball this term. Students and parents are encouraged to keep an eye on their emails and NAV Calendars for any updates to the draw that may occur. We wish our teams all the best this week.

Rugby Union

Wednesday night marked the first of our fixtures for the SCSSRU competition. The boys played in high spirits with some good intensity, defeating St Pats 34-21. Congratulations to Jairus Patelesio on being appointed rugby captain for the season and Joey Woods on vice-captain. A special mention also goes to Aidan Kemp for receiving man of the match in our first round. We are looking forward to a productive season of rugby and continuing to build on our success from last year.

Water Polo

Five PLC Year 7 students competed in the annual Water Polo Queensland State Titles held on the Gold Coast during the Easter holidays. Representing Buderim in the U14s Division, our students competed over four days showcasing the best of the sport, sportsmanship and team spirit.

The tournament culminated with the boys team contending for the Bronze Medal placing 4th and the Girls team placing 7th in their respective divisions.

Congratulations to Mae, Will, Fletcher, Sam and to Charlie who was also presented with the Coach’s Award.
