Supporting Families to Co-create Better Futures

At Pacific Lutheran College, we deeply value the role of parents as a child’s first and most influential educators. We are committed to fostering strong, respectful partnerships with families, built on trust, shared values and open communication, as we walk together in nurturing each young person’s growth and development.

Parent engagement is an integral part of our College culture. Whether through participation in College events, engagement in parent groups, or supporting learning at home, families are active contributors to our vibrant learning community.

Research consistently highlights the positive impact of parent and family engagement on student outcomes. Studies such as those by the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY) and the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) show that when families and schools work in partnership, students experience higher academic achievement, improved wellbeing and increased motivation to learn.

This section of our site provides a range of practical resources, interactive webinars and helpful tools designed to support parents and caregivers at every stage of their child’s educational journey.

Whether you're seeking strategies to support learning at home, looking to better understand school life, or wanting to connect more deeply with our College community, we’re here to support you.

Explore our curated webinars, access practical guides, and stay informed with the latest updates, because when families and schools partner with purpose, young people thrive and we can shape brighter futures together.

"At Pacific, we deeply value the partnership with parents and carers as co-educators and are committed to creating opportunities that nurture this vital connection. Together, we can empower each young person to flourish across all areas of life."

Circle of Security 2025

We are exploring the possibility of offering a condensed version of the Circle of Security program at our school. Presently we are only offering this to parents and guardians across the Prep-Year 2 cohorts.

This evidence-based program is designed to support parents and caregivers in strengthening their relationship with their child, enhancing emotional connection, and promoting secure attachment. Through a series of practical and reflective sessions, families can gain valuable insights into their child’s emotional needs and develop strategies to respond in ways that support growth, resilience and wellbeing.

If offered, the program would be delivered in a shortened format to fit within the next school term and be accessible to more families.

College counsellor, Mr Brendan Macauley, has been trained in delivering the program and has constructed a short 5-minute video explaining the purpose of the program as well as what becoming involved entails.

We invite Prep - Year 2 Parents to register if this is something that would appeal to you.

9 Apps for Parents

9 Apps for Parents

As parents, we play a vital role in shaping our children's learning experiences. One powerful way to support their development is by making thinking visible. Harvard researcher Ron Ritchhart, through Project Zero, has identified 9 Apps for Parents, simple yet impactful strategies to nurture a culture of thinking at home. These “apps” aren’t digital tools but practical habits that help children develop as independent, reflective and engaged learners.

The Pacific Learning Hub

At Pacific, the wellbeing of our community is a core priority. Our 2023 theme, "Purpose, Engagement, Co-Agency," focused on creating opportunities for students, parents and staff to engage with external learning experiences that enhance wellbeing and strengthen relationships. The Pacific Learning Hub was developed to support this goal by fostering meaningful conversations and shared learning across our community.

"As a parent, I am learning that quality parent engagement goes beyond mere involvement in the learning and school activities of our children. Engaged parents understand what their child is learning and provides age-appropriate levels of support and guidance in partnership with teachers and the College. This in turn leads to better quality learning and wellbeing outcomes."
