From PLC to Parliament: A Journey of Growth, Learning and Opportunity

Since leaving Pacific Lutheran College, I don’t think I’ve had a job where I wasn’t required to tuck my shirt in! But in all honesty, reflecting on my journey, I can't help but smile at how far I've come—and the incredible people who've shaped my path along the way.

Looking back, I do wish I’d paid a little more attention in English classes (especially now, as I venture into politics). Today, I serve as the Media Advisor to the LNP Federal Member for Fisher, Andrew Wallace, and it’s been quite the ride to get here. My time at Pacific was pivotal—every teacher I had not only supported my passion for technology and media but also encouraged me to chase what seemed like an unconventional career path at the time. Their belief in me helped lay the foundation for the journey I’m on today.

After graduating, I took the plunge and started my own production business, which eventually led me to work full-time with local TV news stations. That experience opened doors I hadn’t even considered, including a role in fire and emergency service management. And then came the biggest twist—landing a position in Parliament House in Canberra. It's a full-circle moment, one that brings back amazing memories of our Year 7 trip to the capital.

I’ll always be grateful for the support, values, and opportunities that Pacific gave me. It was there that I learned how important it is to surround yourself with mentors and peers who believe in you and help you grow.

To current Pacific students, my message is simple: take in every moment, soak up every opportunity and remember that each relationship and step along the way will help build and guide your future. Embrace the challenges, embrace the people around you—and most importantly, have fun! After all, the journey is just as important as the destination.
